CHIMNEY & FIREPLACE INSPECTIONS

Level I Chimney and Fireplace Inspections are the inspection of the exposed areas of the chimney and the easily accessible areas of the firebox.   This includes inspecting the top of the chimney, the opening and the cap and the exterior mortar and the accessible areas of the fireplace and fire box including the damper.  Common concerns with a chimney could be a cracked or missing cap, open mortar joints, a missing chimney liner, or liner damage that is visible from outside of the chimney.  Concerns within the fireplace could be damaged or missing mortar or a damaged damper.   Brownstone Home Inspection currently does not offer Level I Chimney and Fireplace Inspections as a stand-alone service but does offer these as a package with a roof and parapet wall inspection. Level II Chimney and Fireplace Inspections include everything described in level one inspections with the addition of a video survey of the chimney from the top down to the fireplace.   During this process, damage to the internal portion of the chimney.
